Legal Ombudsman time limits changing

Most solicitors, or at least managing partners, now have the automatic updates by email from the Law Society and SRA, but, like me, you may have missed the changes the Ombudsman is bringing in on 1 February this year.

The limits are a little complex and undoubtedly will confuse the average private client, but basically they have been extended to 6 years from the act/omission or 3 years from assumed knowledge of the right to complain.

Existing policies, procedures, and precedents will undoubtedly need to be changed for most firms.
